5.7 magnitude earthquake rattles Punjab, KP cities

LAHORE: (92 News) A 5.7 magnitude earthquake Wednesday rattled parts of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and the federal capital Islamabad.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said that the earthquake had originated at 12:28 pm according to the Pakistan Standard Time (PST).

The epicenter of the quake was near Dera Ghazi Khan at a depth of 10 kilometers, it added.

Different cities in Punjab including Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad, Kamalia, Khanewal, Bhalwal, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Chiniot, Hafizabad, Sargodha, Toba Tek Singh, Gujrat, and Jhang jolted by the earthquake.

Similarly, different KP cities including Peshawar, Swat, North Waziristan, Dera Ismail Khan, Shangla, Chitral, Lakki Marwat, and Buner.

The earthquake tremors sent a wave of panic among people, and they came out of their houses and places of work reciting Kalima Tayyaba and verses from the Quran.
