Bill Gates calls on PM Nawaz Sharif in New York; lauds COAS for army's role in anti-polio drive

NEW YORK (92 News) – Bill Gates, co-chair and founder of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, called on Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on the sideline of the 70th session of United Nations General Assembly on Saturday. Bill Gates appreciated Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif for the critical role of the army in anti-polio drive in the tribal areas. He said the year ahead offers a phenomenal opportunity to eliminate polio from Pakistan.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that he is personally spearheading the anti-polio campaign. He appreciated Bill Gates and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation cooperation for the improvement of social sector in Pakistan. He said only 32 polio cases were reported this year as compared to 306 polio cases last year.
