Renowned anchor and MNA Dr Amir Liaquat Hussain passes away

KARACHI (92 News) – Renowned anchor, host and MNA Dr Amir Liaquat Hussain passed away at his house at Khudadad Colony on Thursday.

His servant told 92 News that he had knocked at the door and received no reply. "We found Amir Liaquat unconscious when I reached the room. Locals gathered on my hue and cry. He was taken to Agha Khan Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead," he said.

He said that Amir Liaquat had wept the last night, saying his wife has deceived him.

Jamal Siddiqui said that his friend Amir Liaquat was very disappointed. "He was grieved at parting ways with his wife. He used to weep and repeatedly say that he is alone now," he added.

DIG East Muqadas Haider said that autopsy was being conducted to ascertain the reason about the death.

Amir Liaquat Hussain was first elected the MNA on the ticket of the MQM. He also served as Minister for Religious Affairs during the Musharraf era. He rose to prominence due to Ramazan transmission. In 2018, he was elected the MNA on the PTI ticket.

Meanwhile, the National Assembly session has been postponed till 5pm.
