Former PM's Principal Secretary Azam Khan terms cypher a deliberate conspiracy

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Former Prime Minister's Principal Secretary Azam Khan has disclosed the cypher story, terming it a deliberate conspiracy.

In his statement recorded to the magistrate under section 164 of the CrPC, he said that the PTI chairman had staged the cypher drama for his political objectives. "A false and baseless narrative was created by concealing the facts. It was given the tinge of a foreign conspiracy to avoid the no-trust motion. The seed of hatred was sown among the people against national security institutions," he stated.

Azam Khan said that the former prime minister had taken the cypher from him on March 9 and directed him to disappear. "The secret letter was waved among the masses for personal interests despite being stopped by me. The PTI chairman had done all to save his government only," he added.

He said that the foreign secretary had informed him about the cypher on March 8, 2022. "Shah Mahmood Qureshi had already informed the former prime minister about the cypher. The PTI chairman kept the cypher with him in violation of the law and told me that it was missing. He decided to use the cypher for creating a narrative against the opposition and the establishment," he narrated.

The principal secretary said that the PTI chairman had talked about before him that the cypher would be used as a proof of the foreign conspiracy before the masses. "The matter was discussed in Bani Gala on March 28 and a special meeting of the federal cabinet on March 30. In the meetings, the foreign secretary informed the participants about the content of the cypher," he said in the statement.
