Federal Minister Syed Jamal Shah inaugurates Saira Arts Academy in Lahore

LAHORE (92 News) - Federal Minister for Heritage and Culture Syed Jamal Shah on Saturday inaugurated Saira Arts Academy in Lahore.

Speaking on the occasion, Jamal Shah prayed for the fulfillment of SAAs vision, citing that music can address many of society's greatest issues.

SAA's Founding Director Saira Peter said that the academy is the grassroots initiative of young people who wanted to create a secure, nourishing space for new artists, especially talented female singers, to develop their music skills.

She remarked that Lahore is a great city for art lovers, with a legacy of centuries of musical creation.

Director Saira Peter further revealed that she has been approached by a large number of music aficionados requesting she open an academy catering to students of opera and Western and Pakistani classical singing.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Zafar Francis, Founding Chair of SAA's mother organisation the Sarah Foundation, explained how music is both scientific and spiritual, especially Sufi music which produces purity and peace.

He stated that SAA aims to communicate these Pakistani values to the whole world.
