Flood in Sutlej River: Schools closed for indefinite period in Bahawalnagar

BAHAWALNAGAR (92 News) - Over 30 schools were closed for an indefinite period in Bahawalnagar district due to a high flood in the Sutlej River.

The administration has established flood relief camps in 12 schools.

As many as 18 feeders in the MEPCO circle have been washed away by the floodwater. The power supply has been disconnected in the flood-hit areas.

In Burewala, hundreds of acres of land was inundated by the floodwater and dozens localities were washed away by the flood.

According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), 92 medical camps have been established in 583 villages affected by the flood. As many as 966 rescuers are working in the affected areas. In addition, 118 flood relief camps have been set up in the affected areas. As many as 18,371 people and 16,000 cattle heads have been shifted to safer places.
