Flour mills continue countrywide strike against imposition of withholding tax

LAHORE (92 News) - Flour mills continued their strike against the imposition of the withholding tax across the country.

The mill owners have stopped the flour supply due to the strike. Flour mills have stopped work in Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan.

On the other hand, talks between the Flour Mills Association and the government failed.

The Flour Mills Association office-bearers say an amount of Rs10 will be imposed on per kg and as a result, the price of a 20kg flour bag will increase by Rs200. “The new tax amounts to their economic murder as provision of flour at a low price will be impossible,” they add.
