Govt announces financial assistance for relatives of missing persons

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The government has decided to give financial assistance to the relatives of the missing persons.

Addressing a press conference on Friday, Federal Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar said that an amount of Rs5 million will be given to the family of a mission person as rehabilitation grant. “The grant will be given to the relatives of the people missing for five years,” he announced.

The minister said that the institutions were not involved in the missing of the people. “However, there are several reasons for the missing of the people,” he added.

He said that a commission had been working with regard to the missing persons for the last 12-13 years. “We have talked to the affected people in Quetta. The country faces internal challenges due to terrorism. World powers used Pakistan. During the PDM tenure, the prime minister formed a committee comprising of all parties,” he added.

Azam Nazir Tarar said that the amount was not a compensation, but support for relative of the missing persons. “The reclaimed amount will not be returned if the missing person is returned,” he added.
