Govt bans use of drones during Muharram processions and Majalis

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The government on Monday banned the use of drones in processions and Majalis during the holy month of Muharram.

The decision was made during a meeting held to review law and order situation chaired by Federal Minister Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.

Addressing the meeting, Mohsin Naqvi said that the decision to ban the use of internet and mobile phone would be made keeping in view the security risks. “The closure of internet causes problems for the people. “There is need to make the decision keeping in view ground realities and security situations,” he added.

He said that the processions would be monitored through cameras. He ordered the authorities concerned to monitor the entry and exit routes.

Meanwhile, the federal government approved the deployment of the Pak Army and armed forces for security during Muharram.

According to sources, the Pak Army will be deployed in Islamabad, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
