Govt likely to increase power tariff by Rs3.41 per unit

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has submitted an application to the National Electric Power Regulatory (NEPRA), seeking an increase in the power tariff by Rs3.41 per unit.

The increase has been sought under the head of fuel price adjustment. The NEPRA will conduct hearing of the application on Friday.

In May, 12.26 billion units were generated and it production cost was Rs111 billion. The per unit price through furnace oil was Rs31.44 and through LNG was Rs24.01, while the per unit rate of imported electricity from Iran was Rs26.09. Meanwhile, 23 paisa per unit were wasted due to line losses and power theft.
