ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The federal government on Friday promulgated the Supreme Court Practice and Procedure Amendment Ordinance 2024 as President Asif Ali Zardari signed the bill into law after the cabinet approved the ordinance through a circulation summary.

The ordinance states that a court bench will look at the cases, keeping in view the fundamental human rights and public importance.

It further states that the cases filed first will be heard first, adding that any bench hearing a case out of its turn will record its reasons for doing so.

The new law adds each case and appeal will be recorded and its transcript will be prepared, which will be available to the public.

It also grants the right of appeal against any order under Article 184 (3).

Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said, “Now every case will be heard on its turn, which is very good news for the public. These amendments were essential in order to make the judicial process more transparent.”
