Hundreds of power thieves held in countrywide operation

PESHAWAR (92 News) - Six people were arrested while 66 others were booked in a crackdown against power thieves across the province.

According to details, the authorities have fined power thieves to the tune of Rs1.8 million besides disconnecting 282 'kundas'.

They have detected that over a dozen police stations are getting electricity through kundas. In addition, various police stations turned out to be defaulters.

In Punjab, over 200 people were arrested for power theft in Kasur District. As many as 66 cases were registered and the power thieves were charged with 372,000 detection units worth Rs17.2 million.

Meanwhile, four people were arrested on the charge of quarrelling with a LESCO team. On the other hand, three LESCO employees were issued show-cause notices for power theft.
