Life returns to normalcy at Keti Bandar after cyclone threat averted

KARACHI (92 News) - Life returned to normalcy at Keti Bandar after the threat of Cyclone Biparjoy was averted on Saturday.

Residents have started returning to their houses, while fishermen are mending their boats to return to the sea. It has been raining in Tharparkar for the last two days.

Owing to continuous rain and gusty winds, mud houses have been badly affected. As a result, people are facing numerous problems.

According to the Met Office, the Cyclonic Storm (CS) 'BIPARJOY' over Rann of Kutch (India) and adjoin and adjoining southeast Pakistan (Tharparker) moved further northeastward during last 12 hours, converted into a depression and now lies over southwest Rajasthan (India) and southeast Pakistan (Tharparkar).

The associated maximum sustained surface winds are 30-40 Km/hour gusting 50 Km/hour. The system is likely to move further eastward and weaken into a low-pressure area over Rajasthan (India).

Possible Impacts:

  • More rain-thunderstorms with few heavy falls and accompanied with gusty winds of 30-40 Km/hour gusting 50 Km/hour expected in Tharparkar, Umerkot and parts of Badin districts today.
  • Rain-thunderstorms expected in Thatta, Sujawal and Mirpurkhas districts.
  • Fishermen of Balochistan can resume their activities from today and those of Sindh from tomorrow.
