Marriyum Aurangzeb announces to withdraw PEMRA Bill 2023

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Federal Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb on Monday announced to withdraw the PEMRA Bill 2023.

Talking to the media after a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Information, she said that the government respects the reservations about some clauses. "We stated from day one that the bill would be passed unanimously," she added.

The minister said that they cannot compromise on the constitutional and democratic thought. "The government spent 12 months on legislation to defend journalists and introduced the clauses pertaining to the clauses of the law pertaining regarding freedom to express," she maintained.

She said that the bill cannot be passed in two days and it would be tabled before the new mandate.
