Mashal Khan Case: Mardan RPO presents investigation report in SC

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Mardan Regional Police officer (RPO) has on Tuesday presented the investigation report regarding the murder of Mashal Khan, a journalism student in the Supreme Court.

Mashal Khan, a journalism student who was stripped, beaten, shot, and thrown from the second floor of his hostel at the Abdul Wali Khan university.

On the other hand, the National Assembly on Tuesday passed a resolution condemning the murder of Mashal Khan.

The resolution further stated that effective measures needed to be taken to prevent the wrong use of Blasphemy Law.

Earlier on Tuesday, Mashal’s friend Abdullah had rejected all allegations leveled against them. In a statement recorded under Section 164 in court on Monday, he said that Mashal, who was murdered in Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan, was a firm Muslim.

He disclosed that he was pressurized to talk about blasphemy about Mashal. “There was no such thing in Mashal and I refused.”

Abdullah said that he and Mashal had been friends for last two months.

“Mashal was expert at English and topped each semester. On April 13, a student called and summoned me to the Department where I met Mudassar. I and Mashal were accused of blasphemy there. I recited the Kalma Tayyaba and read out its Urdu and Pashto translation,” he narrated.

He said that he was beaten up and closed in a bathroom of the chairman’s office.

Zubair, another friend of Mashal, said that he knew Mashal for last three years and he had never used blasphemous words. He also raised questions about disappearance of university guards at the time of murder.

The postmortem report of young Mashal Khan of Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan revealed that he was killed by a gunshot. Several accused nominated in the case had already been arrested. The nabbed eight accused have been handed over to police on an eight-day remand.
