NADRA unable to verify thumb impressions, over 15m SIMs face blockage

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) is unable to verify the thumb impressions of 10 million CNIC holders, which is hampering the biometric verification of mobile phone SIMs. Sources revealed that over 15 million SIMs, which are legal and being used by people, face blockage. The NADRA had obtained the thumb impressions manually before 2005 and these thumb impressions are unidentifiable. Hence millions of citizens have to renew their CNICs to save their SIMs.
