National Assembly approves Rs18,877 billion federal budget with a majority

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The National Assembly approved the Rs18,877 billion federal budget with a majority on Friday.

The House competed the section-wise approval of the budget. The federal budget will be implemented from July 1. In the Finance Bill 2024, all proposals presented by the opposition were rejected.

The opposition staged a walk out after it was not allowed to address the House.

Criticizing the federal budget, PTI chairman Barrister Gohar Ali said that the people had not been given the relief in the budget. “18 percent sales tax has been imposed on flour alone. The people are being asked to become filers, failing to which their passports will be confiscated,” he added.

Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Omar Ayub said that the budget was economic terrorism. “This budget will increase inflation in the country,” he added.

PTI leader Ali Muhammad Khan said that the finance minister was representing the government which was formed without any mandate. “We reject the budget.”

PTI leader Zartaj Gul said that the Form 47 government had abolished the health card.
