Trial of 102 miscreants of May 9 tragedy presently going on in military courts: DG ISPR
RAWALPINDI (92 News) DG ISPR Major General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhary has said that the trial of 102 miscreants of the May 9 tragedy is presently going on in military courts.
Addressing a press conference on Monday, he said that the process of self-accountability had been completed in the Pakistan Army after the May 9 tragedy. "Three officers, including a lieutenant general, have been dismissed, while strict disciplinary action has been completed against 15 officers, including three major generals and seven brigadiers," he declared.
The DG ISPR said that after the May 9 tragedy, two inquiries were conducted in the Pakistan Army. "It was decided in a detailed court of inquiry to take action. The negligent officers have been punished, while action will be taken against those who failed to stop the attacks on Jinnah House, GHQ and military installations," he added.
He said that the self-accountability process in the army is done without any discrimination. "The case related to the military courts is going on in the Supreme Court. "Presently, 17 standing courts are working across the country. The military courts were not created after May 9, but they weer already present and active. According to the proof and the law, the civil courts transferred these cases to the military courts and all the accused have full legal rights and the right to appeal."
Neither May 9 tragedy will be forgotten nor involved persons & planners will be pardoned
DG ISPR Maj Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said that neither that May 9 will be forgotten nor the involved persons and the planners will be forgiven.
He disclosed that there were 3-4 masterminds and 10-12 planners behind the May 9 tragedy. "The planners and facilitators will be punished according to the constitution and law. Those creating hurdles in bringing the planners and facilitators to justice will be dealt with severely. Action has been taken against the granddaughter of a retired general and the son-in-law of a retired general. The wife of a retired lieutenant general, the wife and son-in-law of a retired major general are also included in the accountability process," he disclosed.
Path of foreign invasion will be paved if internal conspiracy not stopped
Major General Ahmed Sharif said that if the internal conspiracy is not stopped, the path of a foreign invasion will be paved. "Lies, division and propaganda have remained the only weapons of a political party and its leadership. They have been running a false propaganda for political purposes and lust for power for a year. Before May 9, misleading and hateful propaganda was spread against the army and its leadership," he added.
He said that the investigation proved that the planning of the May 9 tragedy had been going on for several months. "Two hundred military installations were attacked in a few hours after the arrest. The monuments of the martyrs were selectively targeted. There was a big conspiracy against Pakistan. What the enemy could not do for 75 years was done by a handful of miscreants."
False narrative was spread on social media after May 9
DG ISPR Major General Ahmad Sharif said that after May 9, false narrative was spread on the social media. "The enemies of the country conspired to create a gap between the people and the army. The Pakistan Army gave a mature response on May 9. The planners wanted the army to react sternly and chaos spread in the country," he added.
Martyrs' heirs are deeply saddened by desecration of monumnets
The DG ISPR said that heirs of the martyrs are deeply saddened by the desecration of the monumnets.
He said that the statements of the heirs of the martyrs of the Pakistan Army were also heard. "The families of the martyrs are puttting tough questions to us. They are asking when the accused will be brought to justice.
