NEPRA approves further increase of Rs5.40 per unit in power tariff

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) on Wednesday approved a further increase of Rs5.40 per unit in the power tariff under the head of the quarterly adjustment.

After the increase, the consumers will have to bear the burden of Rs144 billion. However, the increase will not be applicable to the lifeline and K-Electric consumers.

On the other hand, citizens staged demonstrations against the hefty increases in the electricity bills in Faisalabad, Gujjar Khan and other cities. The protesters burnt their bills and demanded immediate withdrawal of the increase in the bills.
