NEPRA reserves verdict on plea for increasing power tariff by Rs4.75 per unit

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has reserved the verdict on a plea seeking an increase of Rs4.75 per unit under the head of the fuel price adjustment.

The proposed increase, if approved, will put an extra burden of Rs60 billion on the consumers.

Earlier, the NEPRA held a public hearing on the plea of the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA).

The CCPA, in its plea, stated that in the month of October per unit of electricity was produced from diesel at a cost of Rs22 to Rs25 per unit and from furnace oil electricity was produced at a cost of Rs21 to Rs22 per unit.

It also stated that the department last month produced 23.26% percent electricity from water, 16.69% from coal, 10.88% from oil, 0.51% from diesel, 9.67% from gas and 23.96% from LNG.
