ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The Supreme Court on Wednesday adjourned the hearing of applications against the trial of civilians in military courts till July 21.

CJP Umar Ata Bandial remarked that no doubt the May 9 attacks are heinous as such attacks have never happened. "However, their trial should be fair. How can the surety of 102 people in custody of the military be ensured," he observed.

During the hearing, the attorney general read out the Volume II of the written requests. He said that the attacks were carried out under a plan. "Attacks were carried out in central areas of cities. The charges levelled against the accused come under the Military Act," he added.

The attorney general said that the accused have also been booked under section 302 of the PPC.

Justice Mazahar Naqvi questioned whether a military officer was killed in the attacks. The attorney general replied that there was no report of the death of a military officer. At this, Justice Mazahar Naqvi said that why the section 302 was applied when there was no death of a military officer in the attacks.

The chief justice directed the attorney general to get instructions over the matter.
