Parliament will decide on Monday whether govt will file review petition or not: Khawaja Asif

SIALKOT (92 News) - Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has said that the parliament will decide on Monday whether the government will file the review petition or not in the reserved seats case.

Addressing a press conference on Saturday, he said that Supreme Court’s yesterday verdict had re-written the constitution. “Political motives are underlying in the judgment. The judiciary can only interpret the constitution. It is not judiciary’s job to re-write the constitution. In my personal opinion, yesterday’s judgment was political. A new Pandora’s Box has been opened,” he added.

He said that it was not good to further deteriorate the political situation in the current economic situation.

PML-N leader Hanif Abbasi said that the relief had been given to someone who was not the petitioner. “It will not produce good results. There is no threat to the government despite this judgment,” he added.
