PDM-backed Haji Gulbar Khan elected as Gilgit-Baltistan CM unopposed

GILGIT (92 News) - Haji Gulbar Khan, a candidate backed by the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), was elected as the chief minister of Gilgit-Baltistan unopposed.

Nineteen members of the PTI forward block also cast their votes in favour of Haji Gulbar Khan who enjoyed the support of the Pakistan People's Party (PPP), the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI).

However, the PTI Like-minded Group boycotted the election.

Addressing the Assembly, Haji Gulbar Khan said that they all will have to work for peace, progress and prosperity of Gilgit-Baltistan. He thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, PPPP president Asif Ali Zardari and PTI forward block members for supporting him.

"I will take all along with me and more progress will be visible in the region," he added.
