PM decides to bring Rs15bn relief package to tackle inflation: sources

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The sources revealed that Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan has decided to bring Rs15 billion to Rs18 billion a relief package to tackle the rising inflation and provide aid to poor people of Pakistan. According to sources, PM Khan chaired the meeting of economic team on Monday where the decision regarding the relief package was taken. The government will provide Ghee, lentils, rice, sugar and flour on cheaper prices from 10 to 25 per cent through relief package. It was decided that the relief will be provided on food items through the utility stores, adding that the utility stores will be given Rs10 billion. They will provide subsidy worth of two billion rupees after every month from February to till June. The decision to provide subsidised flour to 50,000 registered tandoors was also made in the meeting, the undertaking is also part of the primary relief package, sources went on to add. The administration will also monitor the food prices at the district level. The Rs15 billion package will cover all the major food commodities and citizens will get items at a cheaper rate from utility stores. The relief package will be disseminated to the general public by means of the utility stores that would provide basic food items and commodities with added discounts. Meanwhile, the federal cabinet will approve this package tomorrow. In addition, a stern action will be taken against the hoarders and profiteers.
