Probe into boat tragedy: Nine accused plead not guilty in Greece court

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The nine alleged human smugglers belonging to Egypt were produced at Kalamata Court to face probe into the boat tragedy that claimed 78 lives a couple of days ago.

According to information available here, all the accused pleaded not guilty. Later, they left court and will be back here on tomorrow to be questioned by a judge one by one.

The questions are being raised on the role of the Greece coast guards. It is being stated that the boat stayed for seven hours before sinking.

The coast guards told the authorities that the boat was heading towards Italy and there was no need to rescue it.

The United Nations has demanded that the coast guards should be investigated in the tragedy.

According to the UK media, Pakistanis were forcibly sent to the lower part of the boat and they were not given water to drink. It, however, has not been confirmed that how many Pakistanis were boarding the boat.
