PSX loses 146 points to close at 77,740 points

ISLAMABAD (APP) - The 100-index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) continued with bearish trend on Thursday, losing 146.68 points, a negative change of 0.19 percent, closing at 77,740.31 points against 77,886.99 points on the last working day.

A total of 278,986,985 shares were traded during the day as compared to 382,597,400 shares the previous day, whereas the price of shares stood at Rs 13.094 billion against Rs 14.638 billion on the last trading day.

As many as 433 companies transacted their shares in the stock market, 172 of them recorded gains and 198 sustained losses, whereas the share price of 63 companies remained unchanged.

Rupee gains 08 paisa against dollar

Pakistani rupee appreciated by 08 paisa against the US dollar in the interbank trading and closed at Rs 278.66 against the previous day’s closing of Rs 278.74.

The buying and selling rates of the dollar in the open market stood at Rs 279.3 and Rs 280.5 respectively. The price of Euro came down by 41 paisa to close at Rs 301.02 against the last day’s closing of Rs 301.43.

The Japanese yen remained unchanged and closed at Rs1.85, whereas a decrease of Rs1.29 was witnessed in the exchange rate of the British Pound, which traded at Rs356.48 as compared to the last day’s closing of Rs357.77. The exchange rate of the Emirates Dirham and the Saudi Riyal decreased by 02 paisa each to close at Rs75.86 and Rs74.27 respectively.

Gold rates up by Rs1,400 per tola to Rs254,900

The price of per tola of 24 karat gold increased by Rs1,400 and was sold at Rs 254,900 against its sale at Rs253,500 on last trading day.

The price of 10 grams of 24 karat gold also increased by Rs1,201 to Rs218,536 from Rs217,335 whereas that of 10 gram 22 karat gold went up to Rs 200,324 from Rs199,224. 

The price of per tola and 10 grams silver remained stagnant at Rs2,900 and Rs2,486.28 respectively. The price of gold in the international market increased by US$17 to US$2,432.
