SC orders NADRA to unblock Musharraf’s CNIC

LAHORE (92 news) The Supreme Court on Monday ordered the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) to unblock the computerised national identity card (CNIC) of former president Pervez Musharraf. A two-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar head the treason case against Musharraf. During the hearing, NADRA Chairperson Usman Mubeen told the court that the former president could not return to Pakistan as his NIC was blocked. The chief justice said that Musharraf should come back and he must face all the charges filed against him. He observed that blocking his CNIC could be hindered for Musharraf’s return. He ordered NADRA that unblock the CNIC and passport of Musharraf. The CJP remarked that when Musharraf return Pakistan, he should not be arrested. On the other hand, the CJP also directed that he should be informed with the details of offshore assets of Pakistanis during the hearing of assets details case.
