ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Thursday reserved the verdict on the government's intra-court appeals against nullification of the NAB amendments.

Hearing the intra-court appeals in the NAB amendments case, Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa observed that apparently the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) only wanted the accountability of politicians.

He questioned the PTI founder’s counsel whether he wanted to keep the law intact.

The CJP remarked that the government should have suspended the NAB amendments if they were so much dangerous. “Why did you give amnesty if you were so honest? It is possible that your client will benefit from the NAB amendments,” he observed.

Justice Athar Minallah observed that the parliament law could not be suspended. “Political engineering was the only objective of the establishment of the NAB. The PTI founder is currently facing several cases, including the cases constituted by the NAB,” he observed.

During the hearing, a dialogue was held between the CJP and the PTI founder who attended the hearing through the video link. The court ruled that the parties could submit their written suggestions within a week if they wanted to do so. It also sought the 10-year record of the NAB.

The SC will give the date for announcing the verdict later on.
