SHC extends ex-PM Abbasi's bail in illegal appointment case

KARACHI (92 News) – Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday extended interim bail of former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in a case regarding appointment of Managing Director (MD) of Pakistan State Oil (PSO). Khaqan Abbasi appeared before court during the hearing. The court expressed anger at National Accountability Bureau and remarked that the bureau did not send any notice to the former prime minister nor conducted any investigation than how reference was filed. The court remarked that this case should be registered against the bureau, if the reference declares as null and void then everything will be finished. "On flawed investigation and arguments, the court said give effective arguments regarding illegal recruitment, something is written in the reference and you are saying something else, don't talk in a twisted way, the court said. The SHC extended the pre-arrest bail of SHahid Khaqan Abbasi and directed to place his name on ECL. Speaking to the journalists, Khaqan Abbasi slammed Prime Minister Imran Khan and raised question on his mental state, adding that Imran Khan was weakening the country. The former premier also criticized the NAB chairman for setting up political cases and said that instead of politicizing Karachi, a permanent solution should be found for which special funds need to be provided.
