Three cops martyred in attack on polio team

ISLAMABAD (92News) - Three Anti-Terrorism Force (ATF) personnel, deployed to protect polio workers, were martyred in a terrorist attack on the DI Khan-Zhob National Highway.

The incident took place when the terrorists opened fire on the security personnel when they were performing their duties.

According to police, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Gohar Khan was martyred on the spot while two other policemen, Amir Muhammad and Muhammad Shafiq, were seriously injured and immediately shifted to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) where they too succumbed to their injuries.

The three officers, ASI Gohar Khan, Amir Muhammad, and Muhammad Shafiq, were part of the ATF assigned to protect polio teams in the area.

The security agencies launched a search operation in the area to nab the attackers.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi strongly condemned the attack. He termed the martyred police officers heroes of the nation and expressed solidarity with their families.
