Anti-Judiciary Speech: LHC summons report from PEMRA against Nawaz, Maryam
LAHORE (92 News) – The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday summoned a report from the Pakistan Electronic Media Representative Authority (PEMRA) in a case pertaining to the anti-judiciary speeches of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz.
A bench of the heard the petition pertaining to the anti-judiciary speeches of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz.
The bench directed PEMRA to submitted report on the anti-judiciary speeches by the former prime minister and his daughter till February 28.
Earlier this month, an application was filed against Nawaz and Maryam for alleged contempt of court. Applicant’s counsel submitted that the respondents were continuously attacking the judges of Supreme Court (SC).
He said Nawaz Sharif as well as other leaders of the PML-N were trying to discredit the superior judiciary.
He said that the applicant had continuously pointed out and highlighted the contemptuous remarks by disqualified former prime minister and others which also went on air through some media channels but PEMRA never took action against those propagating and misreporting the judicial proceedings.
