Army not intervening in govt affairs, says Khawaja Asif
LONDON (92 News) – Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has on Thursday said that the impression of Pakistan Army’s intervention in government affairs is wrong.
In his interview to British Broadcasting Company, Khawaja Asif said that it is army’s professionalism that the army is leading in achieving national targets.
He said that the Army has directly governed the country for 40 years, while they also influenced the governments indirectly. “We are undergoing another transition and it will take 3 to 4 years to reach the destination,” he added.
The minister said that the critics are accusing army of intervening in civil matters, adding that it is not right that the government is in power struggle with any other institution.
