ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Minister for Planning Asad Umar has linked to easing coronavirus restrictions to an increase in vaccination.

Addressing the Islamabad chambers of Commerce on Friday, he said that the government was criticized during the first wave of the coronavirus pandemic. "The opposition has also criticized the smart lockdown. It was also stated that over 70,000 deaths could occur daily," he added.

He said that the Planning Commission had fixed the growth rate policy at 4.8 percent. "We had informed in 2019 that the GDP will improve," he said.

The minister said that he wanted reopening of markets and malls without SOPs round-the-clock. "It is a good news that 21 percent population of Islamabad has been vaccinated," he added.

He said that the government has capacity to vaccinate 20,000 people daily.
