ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Asad Umar on Tuesday took oath as federal minister for planning and special initiative at the President House.

President Arif Alvi administered the oath to Umar at the Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad. Khusro Bakhtiar, who previously served as the minister for planning development and reforms, will now serve as the federal minister for petroleum.

A day earlier, PM Imran Khan has re-inducted Asad Umar into the cabinet, appointing him as minister for planning and special Initiative.

In a tweet, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Firdous Ashiq Awan said that the government had decided to make Khusru Bakhtiar as Minister for Petroleum.

She said that a notification would be issued soon.

On April 18, Asad Umar had resigned from his post as finance minister. He announced his decision on Twitter and said that though he was offered the post of energy minister, he has decided not to take it.
