Aseefa asks Khurshid to apologize over remarks against women
KARACHI (92 News) – Aseefa Bhutto has asked Syed Khurshid Shah, Opposition Leader in the National Assembly, to apologize over his remarks against the women parliamentarians.
In a tweet, Aseefa said: “If Parliament is a model of our society and if our parliament continues to make derogatory remarks against women. It reflects on us. Such remarks should not be tolerated. Hope Khurshid Shah respectfully apologizes.”
She said that far too many times this had happened. “Insensitive remarks against women in politics have recurred in Parliament,” she said.
Earlier on Thursday, Speaker Ayaz Sadiq asked women parliamentarians to lower their voice or step outside while the house conducted its business.
However, Khurshid quipped that the speaker should not instruct them to stop their conversation. “Do not ask these women to stop talking. They will fall ill if they don’t talk continuously,” he remarked.
