Ashiana Scam: Shahid Shafique remanded in NAB custody
LAHORE (92 News) – A local court granted on Sunday physical remand of Shahid Shafique, brother of the owner of Paragon City Nadeem Zia to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in the Ashiana Housing scheme inquiry.
Bismillah Engineering Works Chief Executive Shahid Shafique was presented before the court of Duty Magistrate Syed Ali Sajjad Naqvi, where the NAB prosecutor told the court that the accused obtained building contract of Ashiana Iqbal Housing project on the basis of fake documents causing a loss of over Rs1 billion to the national exchequer.
The NAB prosecutor said that the accused had important documents and information for which the investigation was necessary and appealed the court for physical remand of the accused.
The Judicial Magistrate while approving the appeal granted physical remand of Shahid Shafique to the anti-graft watchdog in the Ashiana Housing scheme inquiry.
The court also directed the anti-graft agency to present the accused before an accountability court (AC) on Monday.
On Saturday, the NAB Lahore had taken the accused in custody on the disclosures made by former Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Director General (DG) Ahad Cheema.
The NAB received the key data from the mobile phone and laptop. The record of Ahad Cheema’s links with a key personality has also been received. He had talked about dealing with the NAB.
The accused will be presented in an accountability court for physical remand on Sunday.
