Balloting for successful Hajj applications today
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The balloting of Hajj applications under government scheme will be held in Islamabad on Thursday (today).
Earlier, the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony had cancelled the balloting.
The step was taken in view of a writ petition filed in the Supreme Court challenging the Hajj policy of 2016.
According to ministry 280,617 applications have been received and 83,440 pilgrims will be selected through a transparent balloting.
In its verdict, the SC ordered 50 percent quota for private Hajj tour operators for the current year. The government had reduced the quota to private tour operators to 40 percent.
