I have been beaten and deprived of food, alleges Jamshed Dasti
DERA GHAZI KHAN (92 News) – Member National Assembly (MNA) Jamshed Dasti, who was arrested for forcibly opening canal in Muzaffargarh has on Thursday claimed that he has been severely beaten and deprived of food for many days by the police.
Talking to media while taken to the court for hearing on Thursday, he is an MNA but alleged that he is being tortured and starved by police in Multan Central Jail.
He said that he had not eaten anything for the last six days, adding that rats and scorpions were often released in his jail cell.
Dasti said that his sister is suffering from cancer while his mother is also sick. He appealed the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) to take notice of the issue.
The MNA also showed media the dead scorpions and snakes.
During the proceedings, the court directed the jail administration to provide food and facilities to Jamshed Dasti.
The Session Judge remarked that he will visit the jail to confirm Jamshed Dasti’s allegations, adding that action will be taken against the jail authorities if received complaints.
