Big guns flee sinking BOL ship
KARACHI (92 News) – After the departure of senior journalist Kamran Khan from BOL Network, senior journalists Azhar Abbas, Iftikahr Ahmed, Wajahat S Khan, Asma Shirazi, and Nusrat Javeed have also announced their disassociation from the network.
As per reports, the senior journalists made their announcements hours after Federal Minister for Interior announced that the proof against Axact, mother organisation of BOL, is enough to seek help from US, UK and other international authorities.
“I have resigned from BOL after speaking to my editors and staff. I did put together a great team of journalists. Wish them best,” Azhar Abbas said in a latest tweet, while Iftikhar Ahmad said that he could not not work for an organization whose basic workings conflict with my professional commitment. I’ve decided to to disassociate myself from Bol”, he announced.
“It’s done. I will be back, but not on Bol. Pakistan Zindabad. Journalism Paindabad,” wrote Wajahat S Khan on his Twitter handle. Also Ashma Shirazi took to her twitter saying: “I have Resigned from Bol News, truth must prevail. Current developments shattered my confidence in Bol’s ownership. I cant continue work at a place where I have doubts about ethics that govern it.”
Nusrat Javed in his statement said: “Although I strongly feel that my colleagues in media rushed to pass final judgment regarding our relations with Bol. Yet I am quitting.”
Earlier, Kamran Khan stepped down as President and Editor in Chief of Bol Media Group, a subsidiary of beleaguered IT firm.
