Opposition being targeted in name of accountability, says Bilawal Bhutto
LAHORE (92 News) – PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has accused the government of carrying out revengeful activities against the opposition in the name of accountability.
Addressing the Lahore District Bar Association via a video link on Saturday, he said that 92 percent of Form 45 could not be provided to the candidates in the election.
“A so-called government was born after an undemocratic government. The PPP talks about the accountability of corruption, but there is no price for democratic rights,” he said.
He also reiterated the resolve to continue struggle for democracy.
Criticizing the JIT, he said that the report was presented against them without listening to the stance of the PPP. “The objective of the JIT was not a probe into the fake accounts, but our media trial,” he maintained.
Bilawal Bhutto said that political revenge against any party in the form of a JIT is unacceptable. “I want to tell the people that the PPP always did politics of reconciliation. Today small provinces are angry with this way of politics,” he added.
He said that an attempt is being made to burgle the national resources. “Today those talking about the rule of law and humanity are doubted. We restored the 1973 constitution through the 18th amendment,” he maintained.
The PPP co-chairman said that they had always done the politics of the Federation, which was now in jeopardy.
He said that the lawyers’ forum had always participated in movements. “Lawyers’ struggle against the dictatorship is laudable,” he said.
Bilawal said that the PPP had always rendered sacrifices for stability of democracy.
