Brick kiln workers stage sit-in outside Faisalabad DCO office
FAISALABAD (92 News) – Brick kiln workers staged a sit-in for an increase in their wages and free education for their children outside the Faisalabad DCO office on Friday.
A large number of women and children also participated in the sit-in.
The protesters chanted slogans against the administration. They said that as per the gazette notification, their wages are Rs 1,036 per 1,000 bricks, while kiln owners are giving them Rs 800 per 1,000 bricks.
They said that they had neither been issued social security cards nor the Punjab government was fulfilling the promise of free education for their children.
They said that they would not end their protest till fulfillment of their demands.
