KARACHI (92 News) – China Geological Survey Research Ship (CGS) “Hai Yang Di Zhi Shi Hao” visited Pakistan for Hydrocarbon research and geological mapping under the auspices of Pakistan Navy.

CGS Research Ship undertook this expedition from December 18 to February 19. Pakistan Navy hosted the CGS research ship “HAI YANG DI ZHI SHI HAO” at Karachi port.

The visit of research ship was materialized after the meeting of Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi with Vice Minister China Geological Survey (CGS) Dr. Zhong Ziran, in Beijing last year.

During the expedition, CGS ship conducted various Seismic and Oceanographic observations in the offshore area of Pakistan. Along with Chinese scientists, scientists from National Institute of Oceanography and Pakistan Navy also participated in the expedition. The acquired data will be jointly processed by Pakistani and Chinese scientists.

This expedition is in line with growing cooperation between China and Pakistan in the field of geological survey and oceanography. This cooperation in the field of offshore research will continue in future and another expedition from CGS has also been planned in near future. It is expected that these expeditions will assist in resource mapping of our offshore areas.

Pak Navy’s Multinational Maritime Exercise ‘AMAN-19’ concludes

Earlier on Tuesday, the Multinational Maritime Exercise AMAN 2019 of Pakistan Navy have been concluded.

President Dr Arif Alvi, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Defence Minister Pervez Khattak, the minister of defence production, the JCSC chairman, three services chief, Ambassadors, defence and naval attaches and number of other guests witnessed spectacular sea maneuvers and International Fleet Review in the North Arabian Sea.

The exercise displayed a resolve of 46 countries under the title “Together for Peace”. Naval assets including naval ships, helicopters, Special Forces elements and observers from 46 countries participated in the exercise.

Upon arrival onboard Pakistan Navy Ship MOAWIN, the president was welcomed by Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi and Senior Naval officers.

The chief guest witnessed different operational exercises including firing by ships on pre-deployed targets, underway replenishment between ships and maritime related maneuvers.
