CJP takes notice of closure of Liver Transplant Unit in Sheikh Zayed Hospital
LAHORE (92 News) – Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Mian Saqib Nisar on Monday took suo motu notice of closure of Liver Transplant Unit in Sheikh Zayed Hospital.
While taking suo motu notice, the CJP summoned Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique and monitoring committee of the hospital.
Giving his remarks, Justice Saqib Nisar said that the hospital’s Liver Transplant Unit has been closed for five months to which Director Technical Murtaza said that the decision to shut the unit was taken after the death of a donor.
The CJP said that following the death of a donor, you stopped liver transplant.
He also summoned details of Rs20 billion funds allocated for Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute.
The CJO said that a doctor was hired on Rs3.5 million but not a single operation was conducted.
