CJP takes suo motu notice of appointment of LCWU VC
LAHORE (92 News) – Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar on Sunday took notice of appointment of Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) Vice Chancellor.
The decision came after the court took suo motu notice of reports that LCWU VC Dr Uzma Qureshi was appointed to the post without merit.
The CJP directed Punjab Higher Education Minister Syed Raza Ali Gillani and LCWU Vice Chancellor Uzma Qureshi to appear before the court to explain their position in this regard.
Justice Saqib Nisar also suspended the newly-appointed vice-chancellor (VC) of the Lahore College for Women University (LCWU).
Appearing before the court, Punjab Higher Education Minister Raza Ali Gillani told the court that Quraishi’s appointment was not undertaken in his tenure.
He further said that the inquiry of the matter was forwarded to him for which a committee has been established.
