CJP takes suo motu notice of Pakpattan DPO’s transfer
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar has taken suo motu notice of the transfer of Pakpattan DPO Rizwan Gondal.
Notices have been sent to the IGP Punjab, the Pakpattan DPO and the Sahiwal RPO for Friday.
A three-member bench headed by CJ Mian Saqib Nisar will hear the case.
Controversy ensued after IGP Imam removed Rizwan Gondal from his post on Monday, with the issue going viral on social media and people attributing the transfer to an incident involving Khawar Fareed Maneka, the former husband of first lady Bushra.
IGP Imam said that Gondal had not been transferred under any pressure but for making false statements.
He added that when the DPO was asked about an incident of misconduct of police with a citizen, he lied and made false statements regarding transfer orders on social media.
Appearing before an inquiry committee, Gondal had submitted a written statement, denied the charges of misbehavior and said he and his force had done a lawful job.
On the other hand, IGP Punjab Imam Kaleem has appointed Maria Mahmood as Pakpattan DPO.
