COAS Gen Raheel Sharif calls on US Vice President Joe Biden

WASHINGTON (92 News) – Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif has on Friday met with the US Vice President Joe Biden at White House.

In a statement issued by the ISPR, the COAS and US Vice President exchanged views on issues of mutual interests, regional security and stability in candid and cordial atmosphere during the meeting. “Matters relating to Afghan policy were also discussed.”

General Raheel Sharif and US Vice President Joe Biden stressed early resumption of reconciliation process to achieve lasting peace in Afghanistan, so critical to peace and stability in region.

Acknowledging Pakistan’s crucial role for peace, Vice President recognized Pakistan’s immense sacrifices both in terms of human lives and economic losses. The US Vice President appreciated Gen Raheel Sharif’s contributions in war on terror and said that the US wants to further the growing relationship.

The COAS gave Pakistan’s perspective of security and stability in region, which he emphasized, needs to be understood.
