COAS Gen Raheel Sharif met with Afghan leadership in Kabul
RAWALPINDI (92 News) – Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif met with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah and US General Campbell.
Pakistan and Afghanistan have agreed not to allow their soil to be used against each other and take action against elements involved in violence. The agreement reached at meetings between Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif and Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah in Kabul today.
Army Chief stressed on instituting an efficient mechanism for better coordination to prevent chances of any individual or group’s illegal crossing over to either side.
The two sides agreed to work in a quadrilateral framework. First round of quadrilateral meeting will be held in January. Both sides agreed that they would pursue peace and reconciliation with Taliban groups willing to join the process. Elements who will still continue to pursue violence will be dealt, under a mutually worked out framework.
