COAS General Raheel Sharif attends FWO golden jubilee celebrations
RAWALPINDI (92 News) – COAS General Raheel Sharif attended the golden jubilee celebrations of Frontier Works Organization at Thalian, near Islamabad Toll Plaza on Motorway.
Speaking on the occasion, the COAS said that the FWO had played a central role in spearheading Army’s contribution in all nation building efforts. “Over the years, FWO has developed into a strategic organization with tremendous capability to deliver projects of national significance.”
In addition to numerous Hydel and mining projects, construction of KKH, Central Trade Corridor through wazirstan to Afghanistan, Coastal Highway and now over 1000km CPEC Roads are some of their signature projects.
Going into inaccessible areas to connect the remotest parts of the country with mainland, highest quality work in least time have been its hallmark.
The COAS congratulated them on accomplishing the unthinkable. He vowed for whole Army to continue working for security and prosperity of the country.
The COAS paid tributes to 1,300 officers and soldiers of FWO for laying down their lives during executions of various national projects since their raising in 1966.
Earlier on arrival at Thalian COAS was received by Lt Gen Khalid Asghar, Engineer-in-Chief and Major General Muhammad Afzal, DG FWO.
