COAS General Raheel Sharif reiterates all-out support for peace in Afghanistan
PESHAWAR (92 News) – COAS General Raheel Sharif has reiterated wholehearted support to the Afghanistan leadership for peace and stability in Afghanistan.
He had a brief stopover in Kabul on way back from Tajikistan. He also attended the Change of Command Ceremony of Resolute Support Mission.
The COAS also held meetings with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani at the Palace and separately with US military leadership, including CJS General Dunford, CENTCOM General Austin and Resolute Support Mission Commander General Nicholson.
The focus of discussion was regional security, border management and operation coordination of Shawal Operation to check terrorists trying to flee across border into Afghanistan.
The meetings reviewed and expressed their optimism for positive outcome of reconciliation process being pursued through the ongoing QCG framework.
The Afghan leadership acknowledged Pak Army’s efforts and achievements in war against terrorism and its role for bringing regional peace and stability.
