COAS General Raheel Sharif reaches Sri Lanka on three-day tour

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Friday reached Sri Lanka on a three-day visit on the invitation of his Sri Lankan counterpart Lieutenant General AWJ C De Silva.

He was received by Sri Lankan Army Commander Lieutenant General AWJ C De Silva, High Commissioner of Pakistan Maj Gen (retd) Shakeel Hussain and Defence Attaché Col Muhammad Rajil Irshad Khan at the Bandaranaike International Airport.

During his stay in Sri Lanka, General Raheel Sharif will meet Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

He will also meet the top leadership of Sri Lanka’s armed forces.


The visit of COAS General Raheel Sharif will provide both sides with an opportunity to review ongoing cooperation and collaboration, and to discuss ways to further broaden and deepen this relationship.

Pakistan and Sri Lanka have comprehensive and mutually beneficial training collaboration for Army, Navy and Air Force.
